carmi enlisted his readers to share a favorite childhood summer memory. here's mine.
whenever i think of my favorite childhood memory, it's really just a snipet of a moment - a short video in my mind: me sitting barefoot on the front steps of my parents' home. the concrete is summer warm and i'm eating ice cold watermelon. spitting seeds and watching the dripping pink juice become a liquid piece of art on the sidewalk, i am content.

Hello, Michele sent me. What a neat memory! I love watermelon - it is one of those foods that I don't think we ever outgrow!
Hey McKay!
Loved the warm concrete and ice cold watermelon bit - I could just feel the temperature juxtapositions.
What person can't relate to this memory? Thanks for sharing!
Michele and I wish you a most excellent weekend.

What images! What memory!
Michele sent me here to share it with you.
I suppose Michele sent me back to remember my those hot summer days again. Delhi summer is horrendous.
Maybe I was sent back here to promote my book blog.
I love this moment. I recall similar slices of time on my own concrete porch...experiencing the somewhat larger world that existed just outside my somewhat smaller one.
I'm so glad I discovered your blog through Michele's. She keeps sending me back here, but I'm going to keep sending myself here, too: I like your style because it's so very similar to where I come from.
